Russian Rapper Cancels Shows to Protest Putin’s War on Ukraine
Famous Russian rapper Oxxxymiron cancelled his stage shows in St. Petersburg and Moscow as show of support for calls of ending Russia’s assault on Ukraine. The Hip-hop artist and rapper, whose real name is Miron Fyodorov hopes that his fans understand why he won’t be able to provide them with entertainmènt while Russian missiles bombard Ukraine and residents forced to evacuate, or die fighting for their country. He added in his Instagram video that Putin’s decision to attack Ukraine is a crime and a disaster.
As translated by The Time, Fyodorov said he cannot remain silent as he knows most Russians are also opposed to the war. He has been encouraging people to speak about their real opinion on the war as he believes that the greater the number of people discussing it, the faster the conflict will end. The rapper reminded his audience not to have a sad face in showing their resistance.
Actually, this is not the first time Oxxxymiron has called out and criticized Putin and the Russian government, which labels political opponents as foreign agents. The rapper has attended various court hearings as a way to show support to nonviolent political protesters and activists.
A few other Russian musicians such as Vladi, Khamil, Kasta, Noize MC, Shym, and Zmey expressed their opposition to Russia’s military attack on Ukraine.
